The best wallpaper often starts with a photo you already love. The editing job is to preserve its meaning while adapting it to a tall screen and a layer of phone interface.
Read the photo before resizing it
Identify the part that carries the meaning: one face, a group, a pet, a horizon, a sign, or a piece of text. Then identify expendable space. A successful crop removes background before it removes the story.
Choose from five source patterns

Protect a face
Do not place the eyes directly beneath the lock-screen time or camera cutout. Use the guide as a warning region, then inspect the real phone preview after download. If the source face sits near an edge, use Blur fill or add solid space rather than forcing a centered Fill crop.
Turn a landscape into a portrait frame
A landscape photo can become a strong portrait wallpaper when it has a clear vertical slice: a person, tree, building, path, or sun. Choose Fill and drag left or right. If every horizontal element matters, switch to Blur fill.
Do not stretch the landscape to the phone’s width and height independently. That changes circles into ovals and makes people unnaturally narrow.
Keep enough source detail
Compare the source pixels with the target. If a small source must be enlarged several times, no resizer can recreate authentic detail. Use the original camera file instead of a social-media screenshot when possible.
- Use JPEG for ordinary photography.
- Use PNG when the photo includes added typography or flat graphic shapes.
- Avoid multiple edit-and-save cycles with JPEG.
- Inspect faces and text at 100% after export.
Treat personal photos as personal data
Family photos, children, homes, locations, and private documents can reveal more than a generic image. A browser-local tool reduces the data path: the selected file stays on the device, and the finished file is created in the same browser session.
Final phone check
- Set the wallpaper on both Lock and Home screens.
- Check clock, notifications, icons, widgets, and dock.
- Check whether the system added zoom or motion.
- Return to the editor only if the real phone reveals a conflict.
